SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Family, friends, and colleagues, including council members, Mayor Bob Scott, and members of the fire department, came out for Sioux City's former city manager Paul Eckert's final farewell reception on Thursday.
Thursday was his last day of work and his family will be heading to California this week.
It was a tearful goodbye for Eckert and friends. Many of them approached the podium to exchange gifts and share personal stories.
Eckert said he hopes the community moves forward and continues to do great things.
"I'd just like to thank the community. It's been a privilege and an honor to work with all the great citizens here in Sioux City," Eckert said.
Although, Eckert is moving away, he said Sioux City has been the most influential place in his family's life and he will return to visit.
