UPDATE: Authorities say man found near Akron, IA committed suicide

AKRON, Iowa (KTIV) -

Authorities say the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny released in their preliminary report that 36-year-old Jeremy Lee Clarey of Akron died of self-inflicted knife wounds.

They say more tests will be conducted including but not limited to toxicology tests.

On Monday, officials released the name of the identity of Clarey, who was found dead near Akron, Iowa on Friday.

The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office says Clarey was found dead at 19001 Highway 12 on Friday, after a missing person's report for him had been filed earlier in the day.

The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office officials and Akron Police Department are continuing their investigation.

Interviews and record searches are being conducted.

They say the case remains open and under investigation.
