Public meetings held to protect land along the Missouri River

Some Siouxlanders will get a chance to speak out on a proposed land protection plan.

A meeting in Niobrara was held on Tuesday to talk about the Ponca/Niobrara Land Protection Plan.

The goal is to increase conservation efforts and recreational opportunities along the Missouri River.

It's a plan involving the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Park Service.

Another meeting will be held Wednesday morning in Vermillion at the public library starting at 10 o'clock.
