The Explorers have suspended manager Stan Cliburn after he was arrested for drunken driving early Saturday morning in Sioux City.

A bad season for the Sioux City Explorers got a lot worse on Tuesday. The team has suspended manager Stan Cliburn after he was arrested for drunken driving early Saturday morning in downtown Sioux City.
The 56-year-old was charged with misdemeanor operating while intoxicated, second offense, driving with a suspended license, driving the wrong way, not having proof of insurance, improper turning and having an open container of alcohol.
Police say Cliburn pulled across two lanes of traffic on Fifth Street about 3:19 A.M. Saturday. He was also arrested for drunk driving in 2012.
Explorers General Manager Shane Tritz issued this statement.
"The Sioux City Explorers are obviously concerned and disappointed after hearing of the events involving our Field Manager, Stan Cliburn. We take all personnel matters very seriously and effective immediately, Mr. Cliburn has been suspended from his role with the team. Pitching Coach, Ty Marotz, will be serve as the Interim Field Manager until further notice."
