UPDATE: Fire destroys home in Hinton, Iowa

We may never know what started a late-night fire that burned a Hinton, Iowa home to the ground.

Hinton's Fire Chief says the cause is undetermined, but the blaze does not appear suspicious.

The Iowa State Fire Marshal was at the scene Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., firefighters were called to the scene at 1520 Mercury Drive on the south side of town.

The house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene.

The Merrill Fire Department joined Hinton Fire crews in battling the flames for several hours before bringing the fire under control.

Nobody was hurt, but the home is a total loss.

Damages are estimated at up to a quarter-million dollars.

Four adults and two children who lived in the home are staying with relatives.

The Red Cross has helped them out with clothing.
