SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - One would imagine working at a candy shop might be a little unhealthy thanks to all the sugary treats, but not for employees at Palmer Candy Company.
Wednesday, Palmer Candy cut the ribbon to become the first major manufacturer in Sioux City to be a Blue Zones Worksite.
It may sound strange that a candy company wanting to promote health, but they believe a sweet treat fits right in with a balanced diet.
"We're not really promoting chocolate ought to be your lunch, breakfast or dinner,but to be able to include a tasteful dessert. As a treat at the end of the day or part of a balanced diet, makes perfect sense to us and we are thrilled to be part of that," said Marty Palmer, CEO Palmer Candy.
Palmer is promoting health in a variety of ways, such as getting a bike rack for employees, bringing in a wellness coach quarterly, and offering vaccinations to it's employees.
