Sioux City wins court battle over speed cameras

Posted:

The city of Sioux City has won another round in its legal battle with the Department of Transportation over speed cameras on I-29.

A judge has rejected a request by the Iowa DOT to dismiss a temporary injunction that bars it from removing the cameras.

The state claims the portable cameras on trailers are an obstacle to drivers in the construction zone, but Judge Jeffrey Poulson says the DOT failed to prove that.

The judge granted a temporary injunction late last month.

The city plans to seek a permanent injunction to keep the cameras in place.
