Accused Sioux City robber pleads not guilty

An Omaha, Nebraska man charged with robbing a bank in downtown Sioux City last fall, is pleading not guilty.

53-year-old Richard Shaffer is accused of robbing the Heritage Bank at 6th and Pierce Streets on October 12.

Police say a robber gave a teller a note demanding cash and got away with about $3,700.

He did not show a weapon.

Shaffer's trial is scheduled to begin October 7 in federal court in Sioux City.
