LINCOLN, Neb. (KTIV) -
Fresh off a 10-win season, Bo Pelini and Nebraska are hoping to pick up their first "W" when they kick the season off against Wyoming on Saturday.
The Huskers have won 27 straight home openers and last played the Cowboys two years ago in Laramie, winning 38-14.
Wyoming finished 4 and 8 a year ago while battling the injury bug.
Quarterback Brett Smith played in only 10 games but still ended the season ranked 11th in passing efficiency and 16th in total offense.
Nebraska is excited for Saturday and ready to hit somebody other than their own teammates.
"I think the whole team is ready to play another team. We been playing each other the past seven months, eight months now," Taylor Martinez said. " From spring practice, to the summer doing seven-on-seven. Just all these practices and fall camp, we're all very excited and ready to go."
"Like anybody else at this time of year, you're a work in progress," Head Coach Bo Pelini said. "I feel good about where we are right now and where this football team is headed."
The Huskers and Cowboys kick off at 7 p.m. The game can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
