Mark Weisman ran for 180 yards in Saturday's 28-14 win over Missouri State.
Iowa City, IA (KTIV) -
It was around this time last season, Mark Weisman was introduced to Hawkeye nation. Weisman again the talk of the state, helping Iowa end a seven game skid.
The junior ran for 180 of Iowa's 296 rushing yards and scored twice in the Hawkeyes 28-14 win on Saturday.
With his performance, Weisman is the 42nd player in program history to eclipse the 1-thousand yard mark in his career.
You don't run for that many yards by accident. Weisman credits the offensive line for getting a good push up front.
"Tons of rushing yards out there for us, it doesn't matter what back was in there," he said. "They were controlling the line of scrimmage which is nice. Not satisfied obviously, you have to get ready for next week and move on."
Weisman and the Hawkeyes will try to continue to move in the right direction Saturday when they battle Iowa State in the Cy-Hawk Series. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. in Ames.
