Kirk Ferentz is 6-8 in his career against Iowa State heading into Saturday's matchup.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- -
Iowa's Kirk Ferentz has turned into a bit of a punching bag for some Hawkeye fans. Iowa's win total has dropped three years in a row. Making matters worse for Hawk fans, he's lost to Iowa State two years in a row.
Ferentz is 6-8 against the Cyclones in his career, heading into Saturday game. Iowa lost to ISU 44-41 in triple overtime in their last trip to Ames two years ago. Last year, the Cyclones had three red zone turnovers but still won in Iowa City 9-6.
The Hawks broke a seven game losing streak last week against Missouri State but haven't beaten an FBS team since last October. Ferentz knows he'll be in another hostile environment.
"First time our teams been on the road so it's going to be a new experience," said Ferentz. "It's not an easy environment by any means to walk into. It will be another degree of difficulty from a challenge standpoint. It will be a tough game like always. Any time we get together it's usually a pretty good game. I expect them to be ready to go."
The game kicks off at 5:00 o'clock Saturday on Fox Sports 1. Iowa is a three point favorite.
