Clay County fairgoers will get the chance to make world record history

Fairgoers have a lot to choose from at the Clay County Fair and on September 14 they will even have the chance to make history.

Iowa Lakes Community College plans to set the record for the largest practical science lesson.

Organizers said the theme of the lesson is "the power of air."

They hope to have at least 1,500 people take part, but there is room for about 6,000 in the U.S. Cellular Grandstands.

"People who come to the Guinness World Record Attempt are going to expect to see a lot of fun and excitement, things blowing up on stage, blowing all over everywhere, having a lot of entertainment, as well as learning while you're there," Trish Morfitt, of Iowa Lakes Community College, said.

The record attempt will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Gates open at 10:20 a.m.

Organizers said the experiment will take about 30 minutes, but they promise people won't be bored.

There is no additional cost to take part in the experiment once you pay the fair entry fee.
