Le Mars man dies in crash of two trucks in South Dakota


A Le Mars, Iowa man has died in the crash of two trucks in southeast South Dakota.

The Highway Patrol says 63-year old Gene Stinton was killed in the collision that happened about 2 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of South Dakota Highways 46 and 19A near Centerville.

The Patrol says Stinton was driving eastbound on Highway 46 and had the right of way when a truck driven by Tom Laidlaw of Stilt, Colorado pulled out from a stop sign and into his path.

Stinton, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries.

Laidlaw, who was not buckled up, suffered minor injuries.
