Preparations underway to mark 25th anniversary of Flight 232

Preparations have begun for next summer's 25th anniversary of the crash of United Airlines Flight 232 at Sioux Gateway Airport.

Agencies, emergency responders, and others tied to the 1989 crash will be honored.
112 people were killed when the plane crashed at Sioux Gateway on July 19, 1989.

Officials say this event will celebrate the many lives that were saved while also remembering those who died.

"We're going to honor those who were lost. We're going to honor those who helped- the agencies. Gary said there was something like 400 agencies that day that came to help the rescue. 400. That's a lot. So we'll be honoring those in a nice way," said Pam Mickelson, Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation

The events will take place July 18 to 20 at the Orpheum Theatre, the Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation, and the Flight 232 Memorial located at the Anderson Dance Pavilion.
