An autopsy is now complete on Rockwell City police officer Jamie Buenting.
The Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office has ruled that Buenting's death was caused by a gunshot wound to the chest. Initial reports said the fatal bullet wound was to Buenting's neck. An agent with the state Division of Criminal Investigation says the wound was in the upper chest near Buenting's neck.
When he was shot, Buenting was trying to execute an arrest warrant on 32-year-old Corey Trott for an alleged assault on his mother, back on September 8th. Trott is charged with 1st-degree murder.
