New medical building offers expanded outpatient services in Sioux City

A new multi-million dollar medical center is now open in Sioux City.

The $26.7 million UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Sunnybrook Medical Plaza is located near Target.

Officials said it's a one stop shop for patients to see their primary care physician, specialists, or have a CT scan done.

The building also offers urgent care, and hospital officials said this is an important addition, offering patients an alternative to the emergency room.

"If you have a minor issue, going to urgent care is going to be much more cost effective, and typically you'll get in and out a lot faster too," Clinics and Network Development Vice President, Chad Markham, said.

"It's unprecedented. I think not only in Sioux City, but I challenge you to look around the state of Iowa or the Midwest to find a facility that has been thought out with greater detail," Family Practice Doctor James Webb said.

Hospital officials said there is still space available in about a quarter of the building.

They hope to use that for future development.
