Truckers recognized in Sioux City

Posted:

Truck drivers are taking a break from the road long enough for a big pat on the back.

Truckers gathered Thursday in the parking lot of Sioux City's Sam's Club for a free lunch hosted by area businesses as part of Truck Driver Appreciation Day.

Organizers say it's important to give these drivers the "thank you" they deserve.

"Truckers do this every day, 365 days a year in all kinds of weather safely, and deliver this freight securely. They're kind of unsung heroes out on the road so we just want to say thank you to them," John Joines, Vice President of Safety and Loss Prevention at Great West Casualty, said.

The crew enjoyed burgers on the grill and got to put their name in a drawing to win prizes.
