Emmetsburg ethanol plant on schedule

The cellulosic ethanol plant being built in Emmetsburg, Iowa will open early next year.

That's the word from Sioux Falls, South Dakota based Poet LLC, which is building the plant.

Company officials say any glitches at the $250,000,000 million "Project Liberty" facility should be worked out by then.

It is Poet's first plant that will make ethanol from corn cobs, cornstalks, and leaves.

Poet is the nation's largest ethanol company.

It's working on the Emmetsburg project with "Royal D-S-M," a bio-tech company based in the Netherlands.

The plant will make ethanol and license the technology to other plants.
