South Sioux City students get fun lesson in finances

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -

Siouxland students got a lesson in finance Monday, but not the average textbook learning you'd expect.

National Theatre for Children stopped in at South Sioux City Middle School to help put a fun spin on finances.

They used interactive skits that used comedy, but also carried an important message for the middle schoolers... it's never to early to think about finances.

Performers say it gives a chance to experience the lesson rather than reading it from a book.

"It's just a different way for them to take it in and I know for me personally when I watch something, or see something or experience something, it's much easier to digest than a textbook," said Sam McCalla, NTC performer.

The main focuses of the presentation were saving, the differences between wants and needs, avoiding debt and proper spending practices.
