Cooler temps leads to less revenue for Norfolk water park
This year's cooler summer temperatures led to less visitors and less money for Norfolk, Nebraska's Aquaventure Water Park.
This summer marked the second year of operation for the facility.
Sheila Schukei, Norfolk's Human Resources Manager, said a cooler June and July added to the park's sophomore slump.
"We had 63,000 which is way above what we ever anticipated, and knew that probably wasn't going to be the constant for us. But it was a great start, and this year we had 43,00 but given the weather, we felt pretty good about that," said Schukei.
Schukei estimated after expenses such as payroll, water, and electric, the city was still in the hole to the tune of more than $45,000.
Last year, the city made a nearly $19,000 profit for the park.
