Federal authorities combed through multiple buildings in Fayette County, federal investigators told KWWL Wednesday morning.
Agents began arriving in town early Wednesday morning and investigated multiple buildings in Fayette County, including a home on W Avenue between Waucoma and Hawkeye.
Pete Deegan, Assistant U.S. Attorney, released the following statement Wednesday:
"Special agents with ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), in cooperation with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, are executing federal search warrants in Waucoma, Iowa, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. Since this is an ongoing criminal investigation, no further details of this case can be discussed at this time. Further inquiries about this case can be addressed to the U.S. Attorney's Office in for the Northern District of Iowa."
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office did not return KWWL's phone calls.
