Iowa community turning to goats to help clean up lake shore
LAKE PARK, Iowa (KTIV) -
A northwest Iowa community is getting some unusual help restoring some of its land.
"Goats on the Go" are helping to munch up the vegetation around Silver Lake in Lake Park.
The lakeshore bank has become overgrown with weeds and undesirable trees. And while their meal doesn't sound good to us, it is good for them.
"Some of the invasive species and nuisance species that we're always battling and like we're battling here in Lake Park are right at the top of the goats' list as far as the things they like to eat," said Aaron Steele with Goats on the Go.
The goats will be eating along the lakeshore of Silver Lake until Saturday.
