CEDAR FALLS, IA (KTIV) -
After thoroughly waxing then 9th ranked McNeese State 41-6 over the weekend, the fourth ranked Panthers now hit the road to take on top ranked North Dakota State for their conference opener.
The good news is Northern Iowa is 20-8 all time in Missouri Valley Football Conference openers.
The bad news is the Panthers haven't beaten the Bison since 2010 and they're 2-5 all time against number one ranked teams.
Facing their second straight top-10 opponent, the Panthers ready for their toughest test of the year.
"We played a pretty high level team last week and played at a pretty high level and we have to take it on the road now and do it. We didn't play at a high level at Northern Colorado, we did a workman type deal. This is totally different. The atmosphere is going to play a factor in the game. The two teams are going to play a factor. This is the biggest test so far, there's not question."
The Panthers and Bison kick off at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in Fargo, North Dakota.
