Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, I've experienced any and all weather phenomena ranging from blizzards to tornadoes.
I remember the year 1997 as one that had an array of extreme weather events in Lincoln. That summer, there were many instances where the tornado sirens would go off and my family and I were forced to take shelter. While doing so, I would watch the local meteorologists communicate the severe weather information to us, and I became fascinated and overtaken by the adrenaline rush.
Later that year, Mother Nature was responsible for canceling my 8th birthday party (in late October) with the infamous October Snowstorm of 1997, which dropped over a foot of snow overnight in Lincoln and basically shut down the entire city.
Following that year, I gained an appreciation for the weather and thought I'd like to some day communicate the weather just like the TV meteorologists did. Coincidentally, that was the same year I was introduced to the movie Twister, which didn't exactly hinder my interest in weather either.
I carried this passion to college with me as I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Big Red!) where I did weather segments for our on-campus live news show, Star City News, through the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. I also held an internship with KETV, Omaha's ABC affiliate, before graduating with a B.S. in Meteorology in May, 2013.
In my spare time you can find me playing tennis and golf, at the gym, or running on the bike trails around Sioux City. I just completed my first half-marathon in May 2013, and I look forward to running many more. Obviously I love cheering on the Cornhuskers, but I'm also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
I'm excited to be at KTIV for my first job out of college doing the weekday morning and midday weather, and I really look forward to see what Siouxland has to offer.
