This is one of the only professions I can think of where it's 100-percent acceptable to talk to complete strangers about their opinions, expertise, and passions on a daily basis. This reason plus the fact that I get to learn something new and share it with people every day is why I love my job. I can't imagine doing anything else and I'm thrilled to be working here at KTIV in Siouxland.
I grew up in Chappaqua, New York. I lived in the same house from the day I was born until I moved away to attend college at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
As a broadcast journalism major and film and media studies minor, I had many opportunities to work with cameras and editing equipment during my college career. I had the chance to report for the university's television station, Northwestern News Network. I also held several internships in newsrooms in Chicago and New York, including NY1 News, Entertainment Tonight/The Insider, and NBC Chicago.
During my last quarter of college, I completed a residency program as a general assignment reporter at WBOY in Clarksburg, West Virginia. My time at this station solidified my passion for the field of journalism and all of the work it entails. I graduated magna cum laude in March 2013 and was inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, the national journalism honor society.
In my free time, I love to travel and be a tourist. I've had the chance to visit Australia, Ecuador, Spain, England, Canada, Mexico, and France. I'm hoping to explore many more countries in my lifetime.
I also enjoy trying new restaurants, going to the gym, and catching up with my favorite television shows.
