Morningside students spend Wednesday helping others

Morningside College students didn't have to worry about homework, exams, or classes today.

Instead, they spent the day helping others.

Students spent a few hours at 70 sites in the Sioux City area as part of the school's "Into The Streets" program.

One of the sites was the Sioux City public library where students rearranged books.

The organization saved library work time and labor, but what the students take away from the project is what mattered most.

"Just being a part of the community and knowing that their efforts make a difference for us, and that they really did help us out to have them here. Hopefully that will translate down the line in their own lives-that they'll see opportunities to help," said Sioux City Public Library Youth Services Manager, Jeanette Bobeen.

The event was organized by Morningside's chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society.
