Update to federal government shutdown on Iowa WIC program:
The Iowa WIC Program is funded October 1st through September 30th. On September 30th of each year, we are required to send any unused food dollars back. USDA has informed us they will be returning that money so we will now be able to print food checks for participants who have not yet received their October food benefits.
At this time, the only checks we will be able to print will be for participants who haven't yet received checks that have a first date to use in October.
We are hopeful the government shutdown will over by November and funding will be available at that time to print additional checks.
If you have been to a clinic since the federal shutdown began ,we have encouraged the WIC clinics to make contact with you to tell you how they will get your checks to you.
