Blue Zones Project launches walking moais

Bettering your health doesn't have to be a solo project.

That's why the Sioux City Blue Zones Project launched walking moais. It's where groups of up to 10 people walk once a week for 10 weeks.

It's not so much about the walking as it is about being social. Walking moais connect people with similar interests.

"It's a good idea to have to surround yourself with health-minded individuals. And then it's always good to have that support system. You know, someone to share the good times with, someone to fall back on in the bad times," said Kim Gordon, Blue Zones Engagement Leader.

At North Middle and other sites Thursday night, there was a group walk after forming smaller groups.

Walking moais are part of Power 9, principles to help live longer lives.
