Investigators say woman shot after Capitol Hill chase suffered mental health issues

WASHINGTON (NBC) -

Federal investigators are retracing the steps of a Connecticut woman killed Thursday in a deadly showdown with police at the U.S. Capitol.

Police removed a computer and other evidence from the Stamford, Connecticut home of 34-year-old Miriam Carey.

Carey, who had her young daughter with her during yesterday's incident, had recently been fired from her job as a dental hygienist.

Sources say she'd been suffering from mental health issues, and may have been affected by postpartum depression.
