Church opens up its doors for family who lost home in tornado

A family near Correctionville, Iowa saw their house flattened by a tornado.  Now, they're finding shelter in a unique place, a church home.

The Meadows family spent the day moving into this home owned by the Grace United Methodist Church.

Stacey Meadows says she's fortunate nobody was hurt when the tornado totaled their home on Lenox Avenue.

She says the community has come out in full force showing their support and offering help with clean up efforts and moving.

"It really has been a quick process, the community came in and helped us pick up the pieces and pack up our whole house in a day, and clean up everything in  the yard, and helped us move in the next day," Meadows said.

Meadows expects to live in the rented home for about 4 to 6 months.  She says she hopes her farm is fully restored by then.
