VERMILLION, SD (KTIV) -
The University of South Dakota won their first-ever game the Missouri Valley Conference, beating Missouri State 17-14 on Saturday. The 2-3 Coyotes host 1-4 Indiana State this week.
USD is short-handed after last week. All-Conference linebacker Tyler Starr will have to sit the first half after being flagged for targeting last week. On offense, fullback Tom Manning and senior offensive lineman Marc Murtha will likely miss the rest of the season with knee injuries.
Indiana State will do all they can to control the line of scrimmage.
"When I say pack the box, they have eight guys in the box," said USD head coach Joe Glenn. "They just don't want you to run the football on them. Then try and throw. Get you skin tight on defense. They don't mind grabbing you, holding you, bothering you. If they get a call, big deal, go to the next play, it's only 15 yards."
USD and Indiana State play at 1 o'clock Saturday in the DakotaDome.
