LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) -

It's known as the "Ice Cream Capitol of the World" and now the northwest Iowa community has a spot for visitors to find out more about attractions and events.

Le Mars city leaders, community members, and the chamber of commerce cut the ribbon on the new Convention and Visitor Bureau.

The center was donated to the city by the Maser family.

Delores Maser decorated the bureau and says it has a 1930s feel. She said the new building will provide a great resource for visitors.

"We've considered this sort of the doorway, the gateway to Le Mars with our welcome center here," Maser said.

"The big thing is to attract people that come to town. They've got a place where they can go and find out the total program of what we have to offer here in Le Mars," Mayor Dick Kirchoff said.

The new visitors Bureau is across the street from the Royal Theater downtown and right next to the train tracks.
