UPDATE: Investigators determine cause of Riverside house fire

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A fire that damaged a home in Sioux City's Riverside neighborhood is being blamed on a small butane torch that was left burning in the kitchen.

The fire at 21-38 Fairbank Street Sunday afternoon did substantial damage and rendered the house unlivable.

Investigators say today that a butane torch ignited combustibles in the kitchen, doing significant damage to the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.

Nobody was home at the time and nobody was injured.
