I got my start in broadcasting at a very young age, in front of the computer with a small toy camera at my parent's desk. I started putting on my own newscasts about books and toys and whatever else I could think of at the age of 10-years-old.
As a school kid, I always loved to read and write. But after I got to college, my love of music won out as I decided on a major. I was a music major for my first two years (2009-10) at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (GO BIG RED!). After singing much more opera music than I ever cared to, I felt the calling of the newsroom once again, and enrolled in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications for my last two years of college to get my degree in Broadcast Journalism.
The summer before my senior year of college, KTIV had an internship opening, and I got the job. I spent the summer learning and immersing myself in the completely crazy business of news. I learned more in that two months about the newsroom than I did in months of classes, and I absolutely fell in love as I learned from some of the best in the business.
After taking just one more summer class (because of that pesky, late-in-the-game major change), I graduated from UNL in August of 2013, two weeks after I started a full-time position with KTIV as a multimedia journalist. I am so thankful for the opportunity and honored to be a part of Siouxland's News Team.
