Representatives from Innovative Business Consultants explain changes under the new healthcare reforms.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Lingering questions remain about the Affordable Care Act.
Representatives from Innovative Business Consultants were on hand to answer questions about health care reform Wednesday night.
They talked to a small group about subsidies, and what was available to them in and out of the government exchange.
Many Americans already have health insurance through their employer, their spouse, or their parents.
So, should you shop around if you already have health insurance?
"If your employer offers coverage and it's deemed affordable, which means if they don't pay more than nine and a half percent of their income to get single coverage, and if it meets the essential benefits and requirements of the government lay out, then they don't get a subsidy in the exchange," said IBC president Stuart Lee. "And that's important to know."
It's important to be prepared when logging on, calling in, or talking to an ACA consultant.
Having a few things handy at that time will help like a social security number, annual income, or policy number if already insured.
