A crash in Monona County, Iowa involving a van and a semi truck kills a Nebraska woman


A crash in Monona County, Iowa kills a Nebraska woman.

The crash happened just before three, Thursday afternoon on Cherry Avenue, south of County Highway K-42.

The Iowa State Patrol says 26-year-old Raetahne Thomas from Walthill, Nebraska was driving the van north on Cherry.

At a curve, she collided with a semi, driven by 43-year-old Ricky Kellog of Tekamah, Nebraska.

The van flipped into the ditch and the truck overturned on the highway.

Paramedics took both Thomas and Kellog to Burgess Hospital in Onawa.

Thomas was pronounced dead and Kellog was treated for his injuries and released.

Iowa State Patrol investigators say Thomas wasn't wearing her seatbelt.
