UPDATE: All but 8 MidAmerican customers have their power back in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A MidAmerican spokesperson, Tina Potthoff, says the power outage occurred around 7:50 Friday morning. More than a thousand customers around the West 4th Street area of Sioux City lost power.

Potthoff says the outage was not planned.

Crews have restored power to almost all customers and are working to repair the rest.

An insulator needs to be replaced and they hope to have the power back on for all customers soon.
