Norfolk man sentenced for his many burglaries


MADISON, NE (US92) - A Norfolk man will be spending a good amount of time in prison after breaking into numerous businesses in northeast Nebraska this past winter.  

Forty-three year old Richard Scrivner was sentenced in Madison County District Court Friday morning to 18 to 24 months in prison.

He pleaded no contest to seven counts of burglary and attempted burglary last month.
the sheer number of burglaries Scrivner committed in sentencing him.

Scrivner expressed remorse in court...saying that he was addicted to methamphetamine at the time of the burglaries.

Scrivner was arrested in February and originally charged with over 20 break-ins in Madison and Wayne counties.

Authorities say he made off with cash, equipment and other items in Norfolk, Battle Creek, Wayne and Winside.

He was sentenced to 36 to 48 months in prison in August for the burglaries in Wayne County.
