Nebraska celebrates it's last second win over Northwestern.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KTIV) -
In 1997 it was the Miracle at Missouri and nearly 16 years to the day, Ron Kellogg III and Jordan Westerkamp gave Husker Nation the Miracle in Memorial, in their 27-24 win over Northwestern.
Trailing by three with no-time left on the clock, Kellogg's 49 yard touchdown strike is believed to be the first game-winning Hail Mary in Nebraska history.
It was also the first career TD reception for Westerkamp who finished the game with a career high 104 yards and provided Husker fans with a memory they'll be talking about for years to come.
"I just remember all the guys on the defense running up to the front of the endzone and I'm not sure who tipped it backwards, but it got tipped backwards and I was kind of back there by myself and I was able to make the play."
"It felt like I just hit a shot in the Final Four," Kellogg III said. "I didn't know what to do. I got hit in the head so, I didn't know where anything was. Then I heard the crowd erupt so I just sprinted toward the North endzone. I think you guys should understand, it's weird. It's a weird feeling right now."
The Huskers are now bowl eligible and will travel to Michigan on Nov. 9.
