Tori Kroll was one of three seniors honored before Sunday's match against NDSU.
VERMILLION, S.D. (KTIV) -
Senior Natalie Walseth recorded 14 kills on an attack percentage of .700 while junior Kendall Kritenbrink recorded 18 kills as South Dakota volleyball topped North Dakota State on Senior Day 16-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-13 on Sunday in the DakotaDome.
The Coyotes (18-8, 9-2) will finish the season with an undefeated home record of 8-0.
Walseth, who had no attack errors on 20 attack attempts, posted the best attack percentage by a USD player with at least 20 attempts since 1999. She and fellow seniors Tori Kroll and Amber Aschoff all played their final matches in the DakotaDome and were honored during a pregame ceremony.
Kroll added 12 kills and 36 assists to the Coyote effort, while junior Riley Haug led USD defensively with 17 digs. Sophomore Kaitlyn Hastings added three service aces.
Kritenbrink's 18 kills now give her 1,312 for her career. She needs 12 kills to tie Kristen Miller (2002-2005) for fifth on USD's all-time career kills list and 19 kills to tie Lindsey Soukup (2001-04) for fourth.
North Dakota State (4-19, 4-6) never trailed in the first set, but South Dakota rebounded in the second by finishing the set with a 6-3 run. The teams swapped the lead six times and had 15 ties during that set.
South Dakota took control after the break by recording a 19-3 run in the third set and added an 11-3 run to finish the fourth set. USD had 15 kills and two errors in both those sets while NDSU, which had 15 kills in the second set alone, had 15 kills combined in the last two sets and had an attack percentage of zero in the third set.
Jenni Fassbender led NDSU offensively with 15 kills while Emily Milligan recorded 12 digs. Monica Claxton had 41 assists.
