Construction begins on MidAmerican Energy's wind expansion project

Construction is underway for MidAmerican Energy Company's largest wind expansion in Iowa.

The company has recently reached an agreement with Highland Wind Energy, LLC, an Invenergy Wind, LLC company to acquire about 500-megawatt Highland wind project site in O'Brien County.

The project is located between Primghar and Gaza.

Agreements have also been reached for sites in Webster, Grundy, Madison and Marshal counties.

Once complete, the new wind project will have 448 wind turbines, and generate enough electricity to power about 317,000 average households.
