UNI senior placekicker Tyler Sievertsen and junior quarterback Brion Carnes have been honored for their roles in UNI's dramatic 22-20 win over #9 Youngstown State.
Carnes was name the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week on Sunday. The junior, playing in place of injured starter Sawyer Kollmorgen, threw for 291 yards and a pair of second half touchdowns in his first career start. Carnes led the Panthers back from an 11 point halftime deficit.
Sievertsen earned the MVC's special teams honor after going 3-4 on field goals during the game, which included a 49 yarder, the second longest of his career. The big one, however, came with 4 seconds left on the clock. Sievertsen split the uprights on a 34 yard attempt for a walk-off Panther win snapping a 5 game losing streak.
