Jury selection is underway Tuesday in the First-Degree Murder trial of Fernando Jaimes-Martinez.

He's accused of shooting into a crowd during a disturbance on Villa Avenue in September of last year.

A woman in that crowd, 27-year-old Karla Gonzalez was hit in the head by a bullet and killed.

Last week, Jaimes-Martinez pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

That charge carries a jail term as well as automatic deportation after the Iowa Department of Corrections is done with him.

Jaimes-Martinez pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and two other counts.

His trial started this morning in the Woodbury County Law Enforcement Center.

KTIV's Kayah Gausman is in the courtroom and will have the latest on News Four at 6.
