UPDATE: Grand Jury being called after traffic death in Dakota County, NE

Authorities are investigating the death of a passenger in a vehicle that had been pulled over for a traffic violation earlier this month.

On November 3rd, the Nebraska State Patrol stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Highways 20 and 110 near South Sioux City for failing to signal. During

the stop, authorities say the passenger, 35-year-old Matthew Ahlsten of Sioux City began having a seizure.

Medical officials were called, but Ahlsten died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, whose name is not being released, told authorities he had just met Ahlsten at a Jackson gas station and offered to give him a ride to a home in the area.

It's unclear why Ahlsten was in Jackson.

Authorities are awaiting results of an autopsy.

Nebraska law requires that a Grand Jury convene to review the incident any time somebody dies during contact with law enforcement.
