Police say texting and driving is to blame for an accident Tuesday afternoon in Sioux City.
It happened near the corner of 27th and Rebecca Street. Officers say the man, in his 20s, hit a curb and hit a tree, tipping the car on its roof. He then jumped out of the car and ran off.
When officers found him, they say he admitted to fleeing the scene because he was texting while driving. They also believe alcohol may have been a factor. The driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
He faces charges including failure to maintain control of a vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. He could also face charges of driving under the influence.
