Jury acquits former Plainview, NE city clerk of theft charges

A former Plainview, Nebraska, city clear is found not guilty of felony theft charges.

The jury in the Carolyn Jacobsen trial deliberated for just under two hours in Pierce County District Court Wednesday afternoon.

Jacobsen was accused of stealing cash from the Plainview offices, and transferring money into closed accounts to cover the difference.

Her lawyers argued that while there were irregularities in the City of Plainview's finances during the time she worked for them. But, there was no evidence that Jacobsen was the reason for them.

The jury ultimately agreed exonerating her of the charges.
