Peterson, IA family escapes fire that destroyed their home

PETERSON, Iowa (KTIV) -

Fire chased a Peterson, Iowa, family from their home, early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out just after 4:00 a.m. inside the home on Elm Street in Peterson.

Police say a child inside the home woke up, and alerted family, who all got out safely. Officers say six people made it out of the fire. That includes two adults and four kids.

The house is considered total loss.
