Two Newell-Fonda students help others around the world

Two northwest Iowa students are helping others in their area, and across the world.

Sophomore Abby Smith and Senior Nancy Medel planned the first ever Meals from the Heartland event at Newell-Fonda Community High School.

It's part of an Independent Study Agriculture Course this semester.

The two, along with help from other students and staff, planned to package 50 thousand meal bags... containing six meals per bag.

To help fund this project... they got donations from Monsanto and the Meals from the Heartland organization.

Some of the meals will remain in Central Iowa to help feed the hungry... while others will be sent to eight developing countries.
