Huskers head coach Bo Pelini officially accepted an invitation to the Gator Bowl on Thursday.
Nebraska football fans haven't caught Gator Bowl fever yet. Low demand has led to the cancellation of a charter flight that had been lined up to take Husker fans to Jacksonville, Florida for the game.
A travel agent says it's the first time in 27 years that he's had a charter to a bowl game canceled.
Husker head coach Bo Pelini officially accepted the invitation Thursday afternoon. Nebraska is playing 23rd-ranked Georgia for the second straight year.
Last year Georgia beat the Huskers 45-31 in the Capital One Bowl. Even if the fans aren't ready for the rematch, the coaches are.
"Being able to come to a great city like this, our fans will be here," said Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini. "I think between our fan base and Georgia's fan base, there will be some electricity in the air when we meet on January 1st. I can say this about our fan base, they appreciate our football team. The things we've had to go through as the year we've went on, they fully recognize and appreciate the way our football team has played this season."
The Gator Bowl is at 11:00 AM Central time on New Year's Day. Georgia is a 9-point favorite.
