Norfolk, NE non-profits awarded grants

Posted:

Christmas came early for a hand full of Siouxland non-profit groups, on Thursday.

The Norfolk Area Community Foundation held an event to help forward philanthropic efforts throughout the area. The foundation awarded a total of six grants totaling $30,000. "We were fortunate to have some support in the community for our organization to kind of get things off the ground. We're a very new organization. Part of that money is being used to make grants because that will help demonstrate what the community foundation can do in the future," said Tammy Day with the Norfolk Community.

The six organizations were the Spanish Language GED Program, the S.M.I.L.E. Program, the Norfolk Arts Center, the Norfolk Public School Foundation, the Zone After School Program, and the Great American Comedy Festival.
